Are you someone with a passion for Social Housing?

Do you want to be part of a progressive, creative organisation, where a commercial approach supports the delivery of great customer service?

Stockport Homes Group (SHG) is looking for two new non-executive Directors to join the Board from September 2024.

We are seeking to appoint Board Members with a background in social housing and at least one Board Member with financial experience to enhance the Board’s overall skills mix.

We’re proud to be a unique landlord where entrepreneurship and commercialisation go hand in hand with social impact.

A passion and interest in the work of the social housing sector and the work of Stockport Homes Group is essential to the role as is an ability to contribute to strategic decision-making.

We have opportunities for ‘Independent’ and ‘Stakeholder’ Board Members.

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate one or more of the following:

• knowledge and experience of the social housing and related sectors.

• recent and relevant financial experience.

• a passion for the work Stockport Homes does.

• an ability to think strategically and be part of successful decision making.

• an ability to work collaboratively.

• for the ‘stakeholder’ opportunity, a connection to Stockport, Greater Manchester or Stockport Homes

Candidates should be able to bring a unique perspective to discussions and decision making at the very top of the organisation, to ensure we can continue to deliver excellent services to customers and transform communities.

The commitment you’ll be making will be to an average of one early evening meeting per month and several training or away days each year. Roles receive a modest remuneration and expenses are covered.

SHG has a commitment to ensuring that employees and the Board represent the diversity of the population of Stockport and the wider Greater Manchester area. We would particularly encourage applications from people who are from an ethnic minority background, those who are LGBTQ+ or who have disabilities.

The successful candidate will benefit from an induction programme, as well as access to training and development opportunities and a Board Member mentoring scheme. If you want to be part of our strategic leadership and help shape our future and support our strong social aims, we look forward to hearing from you!

If you would like to know more or would like an informal chat before applying, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Governance team on 07527 387156 or governance@stockporthomes.org.

Closing date: Sunday 24th March 2024
